Three months of author newsletter email content ideas
A common question I get is, what to send out in an author newsletter… especially if you don’t have many books. In the past, that’s been hard for me to definitively answer, because I have a lot of books! Is my advice relevant? But this summer, I launched a secret pen name, truly secret, and this pen name only has one book out.
So I tested out my advice on her. I decided to challenge myself and pre-plan 12 weeks of emails for an author with not many books. In this case, only one!
Week 1: The secret behind my pen name…
Week 2: Where I write (this may surprise you)
Week 3: Are you on Instagram? (Or are you strictly email?)
Week 4: I can’t dance
(This is my TikTok … I cross post some of the content to Instagram, too. It’s definitely outside of my comfort zone! But it’s good to practice talking about my books.)
Week 5: Coming VERY soon
My next book is up for pre-order!
Week 6: Are you a patient person?
While we wait for the next book to release, have you read the bonus story for book 1? Re-up that link for anyone that missed it.
Week 7: Which would you pick?
Mountains or Oceans? When I was picking a setting for my books, I couldn’t decide… I ended up doing X because …
Week 8: Re-read time!
There’s an Easter egg in book 1 that sets up book 2. Time for a re-read?
Week 9: Mountains or Oceans? REDUX!
Two weeks ago I asked you… Now I want to know if you prefer series or standalones! Do you prefer to be surprised if books are connected?
Week 10: Do you want to read this early? Before anyone else?
ARC offer, require a link to review of book 1
Week 11: 7 days left, OMG
1 week to go to release of book 2, meet book hero
Week 12: Meet your next book boyfriend!
